Decades before Steve Irwin’s Croc Hunter, The Bush Tucker Man and Crocodile Dundee, Keith Adams with his wife and sister and a lovable fox terrier named Tiger, lived a searing adventure in the deserts, mountains and rivers among the world’s most primitive relics. They hunt, fish, fossick and encounter, and have adventures which would send most people screaming in terror as from their most awful nightmares.

The Genius in the Battered Buick

They travelled in a battered old Buick without backup, phone or radio and followed the ancient camel trails that wound across Central Australia. They recorded their remarkable journey in great detail and made the world’s first colossal flipping home movie show, about him and his family surviving the Outback Deserts and shooting monster Crocodiles in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Keith’s colour film shows how to live with birds, mammals, reptiles, giant fish, dugongs and sharks of Northern Australia. He established his home base in a cave in the Sir Edward Pellew Islands and hunted together with the Aborigines, sharing their secrets. They called him Uncle.

On his way out of the rugged Gulf Country, his vehicle and trailer get stuck in a creek up to the axles. In 1955 power winches were yet to be invented and the method he used to extricate the Buick has you cheering for the science of invention.
His film Northern Safari has screened in every state in Australia, and also in England, Canada, USA, Holland, Germany, South Africa and New Zealand.
